Georgia Gypsy Horses
One reason Judy loved the Georgia Mountains is that it was a wonderful place to enjoy her horses. Judy had horses for more than fifty years. Most were Arabs or part Arabs. There are now are ten horses in the herd, six of which are Gypsy horses. Several of these are for sale!
Georgia Gypsy Horses -
Ellijay and Gilmer County in the North Georgia Mountains is
the home a growing population of Gypsy Horses.
In 2002, Judy and two friends spent a week riding through the Argyll region of Scotland. They quickly came to appreciate the horses they rode -- sturdy animals, very calm and extremely sure-footed on the often treacherous terrain of the Western Highlands. These horses are described variously as Irish Cobs, Gypsy Cobs, Gypsy Vanners, or simply, Gypsy Horses. Judy fell in love with these horses and resolved to have one.
Now, with a herd of six, the decision has been made that several of these lovely, gentle creatures deserve new homes where they would benefit from the individual attention they crave. The prices below have been drastically reduced; we must be assured that each horse will be given a good home.

GYPSY HORSES FOR SALE

Gimli - This eight year-old Gypsy gelding came to Ellijay with his mother, Heather Blue, in 2004. Sadly, we lost our beautiful Blue a few years ago.
|
Gimli has one blue eye and one brown (not unusual for the breed) and a lovely mane. He's very sweet and demands your attention. He is for sale for $10,000.

Cola is a seven-year old Gypsy gelding. He's
the son of Ruby.
|
Cola is calm, very friendly, incredibly sweet-natured, and intelligent. He is a deep mahogany color that's almost black. Cola is offered for sale for $7,500.

Gemma is a seven-year-old Gypsy mare out of
Heather Blue. Her sire was the fine stallion
Royal Tinker.
|
Gemma is nicely feathered and exhibits the gentle nature for which the breed is famous. Gemma has been SOLD to a good home.

|
Zag is a Gypsy four-year old gelding out of Scarlet . The sire was our own Cola. He was rejected by his mother and was raised as an orphan foal.

Zag, is thriving and very sweet.
Zag is offered for sale for $7,000.

Ariel is a very pretty four-year old Gypsy filly out of Galadriel and sired by Royal Tinker.
|
Ariel is for sale for $7,500. These pictures don't do her justice so check back soon for better pictures. She is really pretty and nicely marked and of course sweet-natured.

Scarlet - Scarlet was our first imported Gypsy. She came from England and is now nine. She's a doll.
|
Scarlet is a willing riding partner.
|

|
Ravishing Ruby - Ruby, a Gypsy mare,
now sixteen, arrived from England in November 2004. She had a
beautiful colt Cola the following June.
|
Ruby is very steady, wonderful with children,
and was one of Judy's favorites to ride.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Scimitar - Scim is the oldest of our
horses. We bought him in 1976, and he's now 44 years old.
He's part Arab and still tries to be the leader of the herd.
His long retirement is well-earned.

Grace - Gracie is an sixteen year-old,
lovely part Arab, part Quarter-Horse. She was featured in
some of Judy's real estate advertising. She's very sweet but a challenge, in a fun way, to ride.

|
Toufan - Toufan is an twelve year-old
half-Arab. We owned his mother (Shatah) and
his grandmother (Spirit), now both deceased.
He's very friendly, inquisitive, and full of energy.

Chaco - Chaco is a sixteen year-old
Paintaloosa. He's a pleasure to ride and was one of Judy's favorites for trail rides in the mountains.

FOR SALE - Meadowbrook Cart by Voitures Robert & Fils., a highly respected Canadian carriage maker. It has 48 inch wheels (other dimensions provided on request), leather seat, and steps added to assist access. It's in good condition, but a bit too big for our Gypsy horses. $1,000 or make an offer.
